Learn Khmer

Suisidee! (hello)

Vanna, a teacher to help you learn khmer is by a bamboo bridge in sihanoukville
Hello!

My name is Vanna and I was born in Takeo, Cambodia which is about 1 and half hours south of Phnom Penh. I live in Phnom Penh currently where i work in an office during the day and help foreigners learn Khmer at night. I recently graduated from Pananastra University with an English Major (B.A.). I have been teaching foreigners how to learn Khmer for almost 4 years now!

Site Layout:

There are ‘categories’ on the top of the page  that link to general articles about Cambodia , Vocab lessons, and worksheets that help the student learn Khmer for free. I am in the process of making Youtube videos, and eventually grammar. Luckily, Khmer grammar is super easy and nothing like English :).

Learn Khmer – Lessons:

If interested in Skype lessons to learn Khmer please review the testimonials from former students (and if need be i can forward some of their facebooks for references). Also the Skype lessons page has some general information on what  taking a class entails, even through I can 100% customize the lessons to your needs.

If you are interested, please use the contact page to get in touch and we can start to learn Khmer! Thanks!

I prefer to do Skype lessons as I am very busy, but if you are in Phnom Penh and prefer face to face lessons that can be arranged. Please send me an email at LearnKhmerNow@gmail.com or facebook message on my facebook page: facebook.com/skypekhmer. My google plus page is at Google

Also if you notice anything wrong with this site, grammatically or functionality please send me an email. I am not great at web site developing so any feedback on that end is great! I also appreciate any heads up to any dead links I have on any of the pages.

Nice work Vanna!
It would be good if you could incorporate Khmer script into your translations. For example, instead of just:
Suisidee! (hello)
you could add:
សួរស្ដី
There are so many variations of suasday (?), but there can only be one way to spell សួរស្ដី Not to mention those of us that want to practice reading Khmer.

Ken,

You are correct, the only way to really learn khmer is being able to learn the khmer script. Most times I am updated this website with a tablet that does not have khmer script. I am planning on adding khmer script as I go along. Thanks for the feedback.

Vanna,

Greetings from Chicago, ILLINOIS, U.S.A.

Recently, I saw your web post and just wanted to let you know that I am very interested in learning the language of Kmer.
In November of 2013 and January of 2014, I had the great pleasure of visiting Takeo Province. Also, I will be and moving to Phnom Penh around December of this year. So, I would like to learn the language, as much as possible before the transition. Skype is a great way as we could interact with correct pronunciation but I believe script or PDF would also be helpful for study resources. Do you have an outline that you follow and would it be possible to receive it? Please let me know as I would like to begin as soon as possible. Thank you.

Blessings.

Soos si day. I think you shouldn’t post someone’s emaill address like you have because it opens to them to spamming in their email box. I think Lee Hi!
